COLLECTION The Origini collection brings together exclusive wines, created in limited quantities only in the best harvest years, using hand-picked grapes from the best parcels of the Budureasca vineyards. The symbol of this range is the snake with a wolf’s head, the battle flag of the Dacians, which appears coiled around the noble grape. The red wines from the Origini collection are fully aged for at least one year in oak barrels.
VARIETY Obtained from the pairing of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, the Cabernet Sauvignon variety is nicknamed in the wine world “the king of grapes”, due to its complexity. Firm tannins, dark ruby red color and characteristic notes of black fruits and spices are just some of the varietal’s hallmarks. When the wine is aged in oak barrels, we can encounter tertiary aromas of vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, anise, tobacco or marzipan.
TERROIR 2018 was a very special vintage in the Budureasca vineyards, many of the wines from that harvest year winning numerous international gold medals for Romania. For this exclusive wine, the Cabernet grapes were picked at maturity from plots in the northern section of the plantation, located at over 350 meters above sea level. The soil in that area is rich in limestone and gravel, while the cool microclimate during the night ensures a slow and perfect ripening of the grapes.
WINEMAKING DETAILS The must resulting from grapes picked at full maturity was obtained by the gravity method, without pressing, another sign of the quality of this wine. This was followed by cold maceration on the skins to extract color and aromas, then a traditional fermentation for two weeks together with red wine yeasts. After fermentation was completed, the wine was aged in Romanian oak barrels for 18 months, a process supervised by the winery’s oenologist himself, who inspected each barrel. Finally, the wine was aged in the bottle to perfect the aromatic bouquet.
