COLLECTION The Sign collection brings together signature wines emblematic for the Romanian market. The wines reflect the special terroir of the Budureasca vineyards and are obtained through innovative techniques, while being deeply rooted in the tradition of the Dealu Mare region. The unique characteristics of the local varieties and the potential of our vineyards are exploited to the fullest, to offer you these wines with a strong and complex personality, intended for lovers of classic wines or those who want to explore the diversity of Romanian viticulture.

VARIETY The Shiraz (or Syrah) grape variety is said to have first appeared in the Rhône Valley of France. Wines made from Shiraz are appreciated worldwide for their strong fruity profile, robust structure and rich tannin texture. Shiraz berries are voluminous, well-assembled in compact and large clusters, with a thick skin that gives rise to extractive wines of red-violet to deep ruby color.

TERROIR The year 2021 brought very favorable climate conditions for the black grapes of the Budureasca vineyards. For this Shiraz, we picked the best grapes, planted in plots in the northern region of the plantation at altitudes of over 250 meters. Here, the soil is a fertile mix of chernozems and limestone-rich clays, the ideal composition for the Shiraz grape variety. In addition, the microclimate provides the necessary warmth during the day and imported air currents that cool the grapes overnight, a diurnal exchange that ensures an excellent ratio between sugar and acidity.

WINEMAKING DETAILS After sorting and destemming the grapes, only the first-press must was used, one of the signs of the quality of this wine. Then the must was subjected to cold maceration, carried out in contact with the skins at controlled temperatures of 10°C, for five days. Thus, we obtained a velvety and fruity wine. After a traditional fermentation with selected yeasts, the liquor was partially aged in American oak barrels for 12 months, to polish the tannins and the bouquet.
