COLLECTION From the darkness of the castle, where Dracula has been exercising his irresistible power for centuries, the story of The Dark Count of Transylvania & Maidens of Transylvania collections is born. Is the Count a creature of darkness or just a misunderstood nobleman, condemned to eternal suffering? This is the enigma that Dracula’s lovers themselves try to decipher, attracted by the Count’s seductive and mysterious personality.

VARIETY Pinot Noir grapes have thin and delicate berry skins, the wines created from this variety having a lighter chromatic color and a low to medium body. Pinot berries are small, spherical and compactly gathered on the bunches, so the variety is prone to diseases and sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Temperamental and difficult to grow, Pinot Noir gives rise to red wines appreciated for their elegant structure, red fruit flavor, soft tannins or medium to high acidity.

TERROIR Budureasca is one of the few wineries in Romania that can produce a high-class Pinot Noir. In our vineyards in Dealu Mare, Pinot Noir grapes are planted on an area of 25 hectares, divided into two different plots – one positioned in the south of the plantation, and the other located on northern terraces, at altitudes of over 250 meters. For this dry wine, the winemakers have chosen only grapes from the terraced area, because here the grapes have cooler conditions that allow them to reach full maturity at the ideal time.

WINEMAKING DETAILS The alcoholic fermentation took place in a large stainless steel tank for about two weeks. During the fermentation, periodic pumping-overs were performed in order to keep the solid parts of the must (a mixture of yeast, skins or pips) well immersed in the wine. By doing so, we were able to extract additional color and aromas. The malolactic fermentation also took place in the stainless steel tank, giving the wine a finer and creamier structure.
