VARIETY & TERROIR Although the wine was bottled by our partners in Italy, the sparkling wines in the Shine collection were created only from Romanian grapes from the Budureasca vineyards. For Shine Alb, we chose to use Fetească Albă grapes, one of the most popular varieties in Romania, with a history of over 2000 years. The variety gives rise to fruity and fresh wines, with aromas of citrus fruits, wildflowers, pears, peaches or apricots.
The noble Fetească Albă grapes were picked early from the vineyard, starting in mid-August. Thus, the grapes assimilated a lower content of natural sugars and a higher acidity in the fruit, both very important for obtaining a quality sparkling wine. We picked Fetească Albă from our plots at the foot of the hill, where we have chernozems with good irrigation and excellent drainage.
WINEMAKING DETAILS Budureasca Shine Alb was created using the tank fermentation method (also called Charmat or Italian Method). Unlike the Traditional Method – used to obtain the Prima Stilla and Classic Blanc Noir sparkling wines – the Charmat Method is simpler, faster and involves less labor. That is why Budureasca Shine is the ideal wine for those looking for a fresh and aromatic sparkling wine, without being interested in the complexity of a luxury product.
Shine Alb was produced in two distinct stages. First, the wine base was obtained from Romanian Fetească Albă grapes. The still wine was then mixed with a mix of special yeasts and sugars. This second fermentation took place in a pressurized stainless steel tank, so that the carbon dioxide was pushed back into the wine. The wine was filtered, the dosage was added to adjust the sugar to the raw level and bottled at a pressure of 3 bars.
