The grapes used in the creation of this wine were carefully selected from the best parcels in our vineyard. After destemming and crushing of the grapes, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks at 29°C.
Following the alcoholic fermentation, begins the malolactic fermentation thanks to which the wine becomes velvety, with soft tannins. Half of the wine was aged in oak barrels for 12 months allowing it to become more complex and aromatic.
Tasting Notes
Feteasca Neagra is the most famous native grape variety in Romania. Originally this variety came from wild vines in the Dacian era. The name translates as “Dark Maiden” due to the brooding dark crimson grapes that produce unique wines with a taste of prunes and berries.
The wine reveals a dark ruby color, with fruity aromas of plum jam and delicate accents of cloves. The taste reminds us of juicy plums and blackberries, with a hint of vanilla and spicy black pepper. The velvety tannins give this wine a good and creamy texture. It has excellent potential for bottle ageing.
Food Pairing
Great with traditional Romanian food based on pork, juicy beef steaks, aged cheeses, and pasta with rich sauces.
Serving Temperature
